Committees
Individual involvement is an essential ingredient for the success of all community organizations. Fortunately, Burnt Store Lakes property owners regularly volunteer their time and talents to work on special projects or serve on standing committees such as those listed below. Why not bring your skills and insight to one of these important areas? For more information, please contact the responsible director.
Architectural Review - The purpose of the Achitectural Review Committee is to evaluate requests for new construction, major renovations, fencing, exterior painting, etc., and to insure each request meets the standards spelled out in the Association's By-Laws and /or Policies. After a thorough review, the Committee forwards its findings to the Board of Directors for final determination.

Architectural Request FormBeautification and Enhancement - The goal of the Beautification and Enhancement Committee is to plan and recommend to the Board of Directors those actions that will improve the aesthetics of our community. Recent projects successfully completed include two lighted and landscaped round-abouts, an additional pavilion at the community park, and extensive landscaping at the main entrance.
Responsible Director - Marion Jinkens EmailCommunications - The focus of the Communications Committee is to evaluate and recommend to the Board of Directors methods for keeping POA members fully aware of Association activities. Presently, these methods include the Community Information Network (CIN), the semi-annual Association Newsletter, and the BSLPOA website.
Responsible Director - Marion Jinkens EmailCommunity Standards - This area of responsibility deals with enforcing the Association's Deed Restrictions. It is never a pleasant task to take action against a property owner for violations of community standards. The Board of Directors makes every effort to take a "friendly" approach to bring these violations into compliance. There is no Community Standards Committee at this time. Instead, these issues are handled by all directors on a rotating schedule basis.
Lakes Quality - Maintaining the pristine nature of the eleven lakes that serve as the centerpiece of our community is an ongoing challenge for the Lakes Quality Committee. The members of this committee research and recommend actions in areas such as beneficial littoral plantings, controlling or eliminating aquatic pests, and improving lakes aeration
Responsible Director - Bob Lilley EmailLong Range Planning - Many of the amenities enjoyed in Burnt Store Lakes today were originally concepts developed by the Long Range Planning Committee. The members of this committee strive to identfy needs of the community not only in the near future, but also for the decades to come. Much of what this committee recommends to the Board of Directors is the direct result of suggestions received from BSL property owners.
Responsible Director - Bob Reichert EmailMechanical and Maintenance - A community the size of Burnt Store Lakes requires a significant amount of ongoing upkeep. The task of identifying projects requiring attention is the responsibility of the Mechanical and Maintenance Committee. As an example, this committee has recently made a concentrated effort to address drainage needs throughout the community. Their recommendations assist the Board of Directors in determining what projects require the expenditure of Association funds.
Responsible Director - Bob Lilley Email - Fred Boland EmailSafety and Preparedness - Promoting the health and welfare of the entire Burnt Store Lakes community is the objective of the Safety and Preparedness Committee. Members of this group work closely with the independent Neighborhood Watch Association to foster a sense of community awareness regarding personal and property protection. This committee also recommends to the Board of Directors those actions the Association can implement if the community is confronted with a major weather event or other significant challenge.
